New Land Trust

The Clubhouse is where we need to focus our efforts. The plan is to replace the old rolled roofing with a metal roof. As additional funds come in, siding will be completed. Other items on the list include grading the driveway, repairing windows and doors, and making interior improvements such as completing solar-powered lighting, painting the walls, and replacing the wood stove. Look for these improvements to come about as donations are sent in.

We’ve Come a Long Way

Improvements on the land have been made over the past two years, and we are thrilled to see how the Land Trust has become a renewed place of growth and activity in the community.

An estimated 4,000 skier visits have been made since spring 2008. Skiers and snowshoers have been enjoying over 10k of newly marked trails. Day hikers and overnight campers have made many stays at Luke’s Lodge lean-to, which now has its own composting privy.

Local Scout troops have been using the Land continuously, and a few individuals have made the Land the fortunate beneficiary of Eagle Scout and Gold Award projects. With 4,100 first-time visitors last year, our new website has  become a place where anyone can contribute their nature observations, current trail conditions, or photos. We expect to exceed that number in 2010.

Infrastructure, Infrastructure!

The NLT is now financially solvent. Our taxes and insurance are being paid in a timely manner. At this point we need to improve our infrastructure. We want everyone to feel comfortable when they visit so they can enjoy themselves and want to return.
